The Mongrels

What the Press are saying…

“At The World's End” was Pick of the Fortnight in Hot Press

“If there's ever a raggle-taggle revival, The Mongrels could be main contenders. ‘Reo/Crannlaoch’ is a decent uptempo slice of Celtic rock As Gaeilge, Underpinned by David Griffin's sturdy drumming. The Pogues used to be good at this sort of thing. ‘At the World's End’, based on the work of Hiliare Belloc, is a jaunty affair, spruced up by Mick Flynn's accordion, and there’s even a hint of The Waterboys about the treatment of Yeats's ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’. If Horslips don't get it together real soon, The Mongrels might be just what we need to spark a bit of life in to the Celtic rock scene with a wit and intelligence long missing.”

Punters' Comments…

From Mad Marie:

“We really enjoyed the gig, they sounded great… I liked the Rosie song. I had a good listen to it in the car on the way (to work) this morning”

From Lisa Baldini:

Had a great evening. The Mongrels were excellent as usual. Tony was particularly impressed by their harmonies. He had heard them before and was looking forward to something like Scarborough Fair. I love now that they're mixing up the instruments more. Great to see Enda on the violin… very impressive and Tony said that Peter's bass playing was really impressive… I also never liked Stevie Wonder's song superstition covered until I heard them do it last night. They did a great job.”

From Ann Marie:

“Great show!! Poetry songs came out the strongest to me. Fiddle rocked full stop.”
